Question 1. Can Parish Eco cups go in Brisbane City Council yellow recycling bin?
The Parish opted for a weekly 'commercial composting service' through BioPak in June 2019. The eco-cups the parish uses should be deposited in the BioPak bins (maroon top).
Question 2. How do I join the parish Care for Creation group? When are the meetings on?
You may contact us through our website or find us one or more of us at the three weekend Masses.
Meetings are held at 4.45pm on the 3rd Saturday in the Parish Hall, unless the meeting is an occasional field outing.

Question 3. Can all rigid plastic e.g. plates, bowls, cutlery be recycled through yellow top Brisbane City Council bin?

Brisbane City Council have been contacted directly, by phone, and confirmed that all rigid plastic e.g. plates, bowls, and cutlery can be recycled through their yellow top council bin. There is no need to rinse plates but no actual food waste.
Question 4. What is soft plastic recycling? Where can I take it to be recycled? What happens to this plastic?
You can read more about the TYPE of soft plastics you can recycle through the REDcycle Program and WHERE to drop off here. All Coles supermarkets and an increasing number of Woolworth's supermarkets have a bin where you can drop off soft plastics. Usually the collection bin is located near the checkouts.

- the collected plastic is returned to RED Group’s facility for initial processing, then delivered to Victorian manufacturer Replas where it undergoes an incredible transformation.
- Replas uses the material as the resource to produce a huge range of recycled-plastic products, from fitness circuits to sturdy outdoor furniture, bollards, signage and more.
- PLEASE NOTE: REDcycle does not take cling wrap - at this stage.
Question 5. Are coffee capsules/pods recyclable?
Nespresso coffee pods - made of aluminium - are recyclable. You may deposit used pods here.

Question 6. How do you dispose of nylon fishing line?
Fishing line is being recycled in several states in the United States http://mrrp.myfwc.com/ and in several places in the UK. In Australia, people in Hobart are volunteering to collect the fishing line and post to the Pure fishing Company in Berkley U.S. If we discover more information then Care for Creation will update our answer. In the meantime, we would ask that you may like to follow up with you favourite fishing tackle store, and advise us if you obtain further information so that we may post here. Thank you.
Question 7. Motor vehicles contain more and more plastic. Do you know if this plastic is recycled by car manufacturers?
We are investigating to find an answer to this question.
Question 8. Can used solar PV panels be re-cycled in Australia?
The reclaimpv.com website claims to offer a re-cycling solution for obsolete solar PV panels Australia wide.
